The Benefits & Payroll Analyst will support the day-to-day administration and ongoing improvement of payroll and employee benefit programs. This role will be responsible for payroll and benefits data accuracy, audits, reconciliations, employee support, vendor coordination, reporting, and compliance. The position will also work closely with HRIS and other internal partners to maintain data integrity, troubleshoot system issues, support testing and process improvements, and ensure employees receive accurate and timely pay and benefits.
Job Responsibilities
- Support bi-weekly, semi-monthly, and off-cycle payroll processing, including reviewing earnings, deductions, taxes, garnishments, benefits, and timekeeping data.
- Research and resolve payroll discrepancies while partnering with Payroll, Finance, and HR to reconcile data and ensure accurate reporting.
- Administer employee benefit programs and process enrollments, qualifying life events, terminations, and other benefit changes.
- Coordinate with benefits vendors and brokers to resolve eligibility, enrollment, billing, and other administrative issues.
- Reconcile benefits invoices and eligibility data and monitor HRIS-to-vendor data feeds for accuracy.
- Support annual Open Enrollment activities, including testing, implementation, employee communications, and issue resolution.
- Conduct regular payroll, benefits, and HR data audits and assist with compliance requirements and internal or external audits.
- Prepare recurring and ad hoc reports and analyses related to payroll, benefits, headcount, and workforce data.
- Maintain and audit payroll and benefits information within Workday and support system testing, integrations, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
- Respond to employee questions regarding payroll, deductions, taxes, benefits, and leave while identifying opportunities to improve processes and the employee experience.
Requirements & Skills
- 3–5+ years of experience in payroll, benefits administration, HR operations, or a related function.
- Hands-on experience with Workday, including maintaining or auditing payroll and benefits data.
- Bachelor's degree in HR, Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Hands-on experience with payroll processing, payroll audits, and resolving pay discrepancies.
- Experience administering employee benefit programs and working directly with benefits vendors.
- Strong Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, reporting, and data analysis.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail.
- Working knowledge of payroll and benefits compliance requirements.
- Ability to handle confidential employee information with discretion.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across HR, Finance, Payroll, HRIS, employees, and external vendors.
