Job summary

The State of South Carolina, Department of Health and Human Services, seeks a Benefits Manager I to oversee comprehensive employee benefits, counsel staff on health, retirement, and disability programs, and guide compliance with FMLA, ADA, and related laws. This role also manages new employee orientation and workers' compensation administration.

Candidates should have a bachelor's degree and relevant experience in insurance or retirement programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and relevant experience in insurance or retirement programs.
• Equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered with agency approval.

Responsibilities

• Administers a comprehensive benefits program for the agency, counseling new and current employees on State Group Benefits and retirement options.
• Guides employees on FMLA, ADA, Pregnancy Accommodations Act and other medical accommodations, ensuring compliance with state and federal laws.
• Conducts New Employee Orientation and explains agency policies, PEBA Retirement, State Group Benefits and Deferred Compensation to new employees.
• Coordinates and administers the agency’s Worker’s Compensation program and completes annual OSHA reports.
