Job summary

Synechron is seeking a skilled Benefits Manager based in Charlotte, NC to lead and optimize employee benefits across Canada, the US, and Mexico. The role focuses on strategic program design, regulatory compliance, and strong cross-functional partnerships with HR, Finance, Payroll, and business leaders.

The base salary ranges from $95k to $120k per year, with comprehensive benefits. The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of experience in benefits administration and CEBS or equivalent

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR or related field (or equivalent professional experience).
  • 10+ years of hands-on experience administering benefits, retirement, and/or welfare programs.
  • Thorough knowledge of regulatory requirements in Canada, the US, and Mexico.
  • CEBS (Certified Employee Benefits Specialist) or similar certification.
  • Advanced proficiency with Excel and analytical tools; strong working knowledge of PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day operations of all employee benefits, retirement, disability, and insurance programs.
  • Develop and implement benefits programs aligned with needs, trends, and costs.
  • Maintain relationships with brokers, carriers, and third-party administrators for service quality and design.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements across Canada, the US, and Mexico.
  • Create clear communication materials and conduct enrollment sessions for on-site and remote employees.
  • Maintain accurate benefits records and ensure data integrity across systems.
  • Lead the Benefits Support Specialist and drive special projects.

Our challenge

The Benefits Manager is responsible for the strategic planning, design, compliance, implementation, and administration of comprehensive employee benefits, retirement, and wellness programs across North America. This role serves approximately 2,000 employees across Canada, the US, and Mexico, while building strong cross-functional partnerships with HR, Finance, Payroll, Legal, and business leaders.

Additional Information

The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Charlotte, NC is $95k - $120k/year & benefits (see below).

Responsibilities
  • Program Administration & Operations: Manage day-to-day operations of all employee benefits, retirement, disability, and insurance programs, including mobility and relocation initiatives. Identify opportunities to automate manual processes and implement operational efficiencies.
  • Strategic Program Design: Recommend and develop benefits programs aligned with employee needs, industry trends, market conditions, and cost considerations. Analyze employee data and workforce requirements to inform program recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Vendor & Carrier Relationships: Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with brokers, insurance carriers, and third-party administrators to ensure quality service delivery and optimal program design. Reconcile billing statements and manage account accuracy.
  • Compliance & Risk Management: Maintain current knowledge of federal, state, provincial, and local regulatory requirements across all three countries. Ensure organizational adherence to all benefits-related regulations and audit HR/benefits data for accuracy and compliance.
  • Employee Communication & Education: Partner with Marketing and benefits vendors to create clear, engaging communication materials. Conduct annual open enrollment sessions at multiple locations and deliver regular education sessions for both on-site and remote employees.
  • Data Management & Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and current benefits records. Process approved changes to benefits and deductions, identify and troubleshoot data discrepancies, and ensure information integrity across systems.
  • Team Leadership: Manage and mentor the Benefits Support Specialist. Lead special projects as assigned.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Benefits Administration, or related field (or equivalent professional experience)
  • 10+ years of hands‑on experience administering benefits, retirement, and/or welfare programs
  • Demonstrated expertise in health and welfare, retirement plans, leave management, and wellness programs across diverse, multi-country workforces
  • Thorough knowledge of regulatory requirements in Canada, the US, and Mexico
  • Advanced proficiency with Excel and analytical tools; strong working knowledge of PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook
  • Knowledge of best practices in payroll and benefits administration
  • Experience managing benefits programs in a multi-country environment
  • CEBS (Certified Employee Benefits Specialist) or similar certification
  • Familiarity with benefits administration platforms and HRIS systems
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
  • Ability to prioritize, multitask, and thrive in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment
  • Collaborative mindset with strong cross‑functional partnership skills
