Job summary

North Haven Public Schools is seeking a highly organized Benefits Generalist to manage daily operations of the district's employee benefits programs. You will work with the HR Generalist and liaise with plan vendors, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality across all staff groups.

Responsibilities include enrollment, communications, claims guidance, and compliance, with a focus on HIPAA/FERPA and accurate HRIS data handling. This is a full-time 12-month non-union position in North Haven, CT.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent; an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in HR, Business Admin, or Finance is strongly preferred.
• 2–4 years of experience in clerical benefits administration, human resources, or public sector school district payroll.
• Experience with school district payroll is preferred.
• Proficient with HRIS systems (ADP Workforce Now) and intermediate to advanced Excel and Google Workspace.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day operations of health, dental, vision, life insurance, workers’ compensation, HSA/HRA, disability, and retirement programs.
• Assist enrollment workflows and verify data during onboarding.
• Educate staff on plan changes and interpret benefits policies clearly.
• Guide employees through claims processes and resolve discrepancies.
• Coordinate with brokers, carriers, and departments to optimize plan administration and reporting.
• Ensure accurate entry of benefit selections into ADP pay profiles and related data.
