Description
The Benefits Analyst is responsible for the day-to-day administration of the Company’s employee benefits and leave of absence programs. The position serves as a primary point of contact for employees with benefits and leave questions and is responsible for the setup and processing of open enrollment, benefits compliance, 401(k) administration, and ACA compliance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employee benefits and leave of absence questions, researching and resolving issues related to eligibility, coverage, enrollment, and billing in coordination with brokers, carriers, and vendors, and directing employees to the appropriate carrier or administrator for claim-specific matters.
- Administer the day-to-day operation of employee benefit plans, including new hire and rehire enrollment, qualifying life events, and terminations in the HRIS and carrier portals; reconcile monthly carrier invoices and coordinate benefit deductions with Payroll.
- Set up, test, and process annual open enrollment, including system configuration, employee communications and enrollment meetings, and post-enrollment audits.
- Coordinate the Company’s leave of absence programs with the third-party leave administrator, monitoring leave activity at a high level, tracking status and return-to-work dates, managing the return to duty process, and partnering with Payroll on leave pay, benefit continuation, and premium collection in accordance with internal policies and applicable federal, state, and local laws (FMLA, ADA, and related programs).
- Administer the Company’s 401(k) plan, including enrollments, contribution changes, and distributions, payroll funding, and support of the annual plan audit and compliance testing.
- Maintain benefits and ACA compliance, including tracking employee eligibility and hours of service, preparing annual 1094-C and 1095-C reporting, and completing required filings, notices, and disclosures (Form 5500, SPDs, SBCs, COBRA, Medicare Part D, and similar).
- Maintain accurate and confidential benefit and leave records, and perform other special projects and related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; comparable work experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Entry-level position; internship, coursework, or prior administrative or Human Resources support experience involving benefits or leave administration is preferred.
- Working knowledge of, or demonstrated ability to quickly learn, benefits compliance requirements and leave laws at the federal, state, and local levels.
- High level of professionalism, discretion, and ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee and medical information.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines simultaneously with a high degree of accuracy.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently while adapting to changing priorities.
- Experience with HRIS and benefits administration platforms preferred; exposure to UKG or similar systems is a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English.

- Use hands and fingers for typing, writing, and operating office equipment.
- Communicate effectively via phone, virtual meetings, and in-person meetings, and understand verbal communication clearly.
- Move between rooms, attend meetings, and reach for supplies as needed.
- Lift and move objects, typically under 25 pounds, such as files, laptops, or office supplies.
