Job summary

Oregon Department of Human Services seeks a Benefits Support Staff (Public Benefits Specialist, Entry) to be the first point of contact for Oregonians, delivering welcoming service and guiding clients to the correct resources. The role emphasizes trauma-informed interactions and accurate processing of applications.

Based in rural eastern Oregon, the position operates Monday–Friday, 8 am–5 pm PT, within the Enterprise Office, supporting the ONE eligibility system and TRACS documentation.

Qualifications

  • Two years of experience in a reception area or call center with high volume of work.
  • Associate degree in Behavioral Science or related field and six months of experience in busy reception.
  • Equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Be the first face of contact for Oregonians and provide a welcoming environment.
  • Support day-to-day office operations and front desk tasks.
  • Assist Oregonians in person, by phone, and via email using a trauma-informed lens.
  • Provide front desk assistance, answer calls, and guide clients to services.
  • Distribute mail, handle case transfers, and manage emails.
  • Schedule appointments and issue EBT cards and checks.
  • Review applications and documents for completeness and accuracy.
  • Document interactions in the ONE and TRACS systems.
  • Maintain an organized work area and lobby flow.
  • Use multiple computer systems to manage information.
