The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education is seeking a Benefit Program Technician to support the Child Care Subsidy Program in Hillsboro, MO. The role reviews applications, determines eligibility, enters data into the state system, and authorizes assistance based on family needs and provider selection.

You will respond to parents by phone or email, ensure timely processing, maintain complete eligibility records, and generate reports as required.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from high school or High School Equivalency.
  • One year of relevant work experience.

Responsibilities

  • Review applications and determine initial/continuing eligibility for families needing child care assistance.
  • Enter information in the state’s web-based child care data system used to process applications.
  • Authorize child care assistance based on the family’s need for care and selection of child care provider(s).
  • Ensure families meet eligibility criteria per state and federal requirements for income-based and/or protective services.
  • Respond in a timely manner to phone calls and emails from parents regarding their child care assistance.
  • Ensure family applications are processed in a timely manner.
  • Maintain up-to-date and complete records of family eligibility and prepare reports or summaries as needed.
  • Demonstrate regular, reliable, and engaged attendance.

The purpose of this program is to not only ensure children have access to early childhood programs, but also to help families with the cost of child care so they are able to focus on finding and holding steady jobs and/or are able to attend school and training programs.
