The Washington County ADRC Department in West Bend is offering a Benefits Specialist Assistant role. The position requires two years of post-high school education and one year of office experience, with preference for experience serving older adults and familiarity with insurance or health care

Under the supervision of the Director, is responsible for providing technical support for the web based state database systems, clerical support, and direct client consultation for benefit programs within the Department.

Decisions concerning prioritizing work, assisting in determining eligibility for prescription drug programs, Medicare and supplemental insurance options, providing information as needed, setting up and maintaining files, and other daily assignments are made independently.
There is interaction with other County departments, County employees, and direct client contact as well as the general public.
Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures, basic computer principles, operation of county government, and departmental programs, operations and policies. Ability to produce accurate documents, provide support for programs, communicate effectively orally and in writing, operate a variety of office equipment, and interact effectively with coworkers and other employees. Ability to relate to older adults and adults with disabilities, good listening skills, ability to comprehend government benefits and program regulations. Able to fulfill physical demands of job, sensory demands (seeing and hearing), and cognitive demands (concentration, conceptualization, memorization).
