Job summary

ADM is seeking a Scientist I, Benchtop Fermentation to support fermentation R&D at the 7.5 L scale, validating production strains and scaling processes across yeast, bacterial, and fungal systems. You will follow experimental plans, operate fermentation systems, troubleshoot issues, maintain aseptic technique, and document data and deviations.

This is an exempt, collaborative role within ADM Research & Development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or 2-3 years of hands-on fermentation experience.
• Strong aseptic technique and lab safety awareness.
• Ability to follow experimental plans and SOPs with accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Execute benchtop fermentation experiments at 7.5 L scale.
• Follow SOPs and safety requirements for high-quality execution.
• Set up, operate, monitor, and clean fermentation equipment.
• Record conditions and results in batch records and summaries.
• Apply aseptic techniques to prevent contamination.
• Troubleshoot processes and equipment; implement corrective actions.
• Support documentation of protocols and safety analyses.
• Maintain clean, organized lab workspace and inventory.
• Interpret results and provide recommendations to project leads.
• Communicate progress and results with stakeholders.
• Contribute to continuous improvement in fermentation operations.
