Job summary

Lowes Foods on Johns Island, SC seeks a Bench Department Manager to supervise guest service, merchandising and departmental operations in the Produce department. After training, you may be assigned to a Department Manager role within 30 miles of your home.

You will ensure guests receive polite service, achieve department sales goals, manage inventory, and maintain Lowes Foods standards while guiding and training staff.

Qualifications

• Friendly, outgoing personality.

• Ability to lift 50 lbs regularly and 25 lbs constantly.
• Ability to read and understand information and direction.
• Knowledge of produce operations.
• Ability to supervise people including training and development.
• Demonstrated ability to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements of the job.
• Effective communication and guest service skills.
• Ability to bend, kneel and stand for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Ensure guests receive polite, friendly service from the produce/floral department staff.
• Achieve budgeted sales and profits for the produce/floral department.
• Maintain desired level of inventory and supplies.
• Operate the department according to merchandising and operational guidelines and programs.
• Ensure the quality of product for sale meets Lowes Foods standards.
• Maintain sanitation and safety throughout the department according to Lowes Foods standards.
• Provide guidance, orientation, training and feedback to ensure produce department hosts achieve satisfactory performance standards.
• Perform product preparation, receiving, conditioning, stocking and guest service as necessary to achieve standards.
• Maintain department’s labor budget and scheduling standards.
• Perform all other duties as assigned by management.

After training, Bench Department Managers are expected to fill a Department Manager role within 30 miles of their home. If no position is open, they will remain in their bench role until one becomes available.
