The Behavior Technician works one-on-one with children and/or adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder and similar developmental delays and behavioral health challenges. They implement the Behavior Plan (BP) designed and maintained by the Clinical Supervisor (BCBA) in areas including language/communication, social and play skills, self-help skills, and de-escalation of challenging behaviors. The BT collects quantifiable data and narrative summaries necessary for the Clinical Supervisor to evaluate the effectiveness of the BP in achieving identified goals and objectives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Follow instructions and implement Behavior Plan created by the BCBA/clinical supervisor.
- Provide behavior assistance/interventions to assigned clients.
- Implement goals and objectives utilizing strategies based on the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).
- Implement de-escalation and crisis intervention techniques.
- Implement behavior support plans.
- Collect data and document sessions according to policies and procedures.
- Communicate progress and concerns with the Clinical Supervisor and Office Leadership.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- At least one of the following required: 1) Completed college coursework in psychology, education, social work, behavioral science, human development, or 2) a minimum of one year experience working with children or adults in capacities such as Child Development, Camp Counselor, Paraprofessional, Direct Support Professional, Behavior Interventionist/Therapist, or Behavior Technician.
- Successful completion of 40 hours of ABA training (training provided, must be completed prior to service provision).
- Current CPR certification.
- Current PPD or Chest X-Ray (as applicable per state and/or client requirement).
- Excellent communication skills.
- Proficiency in the English language required.
- Technological proficiency including mobile devices for documentation.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
