Job summary

Triangle Disability & Autism Services in Raleigh, NC is seeking a part-time Behavioral Support Staff to assist individuals with IDD and autism in daily living activities, personal care, skill development, and community involvement.

You will implement behavior support plans, address challenging behaviors, and help participants develop social-emotional skills, while documenting shifts in an electronic health record system.

Qualifications

• Experience working with individuals with IDD or autism.
• Minimum 6 months experience working directly with individuals with behavioral support needs.
• Reliable and dependable.

Responsibilities

• Manage and address challenging behaviors.
• Seek to understand participant’s individual method(s) of communication.
• Implement individualized behavior intervention plans (BIPs) or other person-centered plans.
• Use positive behavior support strategies to encourage appropriate behavior and social interactions.
• Assist with activities, transitions and routines to minimize disruptions.
• Help develop social emotional skills through modeling and guided practice.
• Foster belonging and self-confidence with encouragement and reinforcement.
• Respond to behavioral crises in various settings and deescalate when necessary.
• Follow established protocols for managing severe incidents and seek support when needed.
• Communicate with supervisor and families; participate in ISP meetings.

Behavioral Support Staff- Part Time

Part Time Raleigh, NC, US

Salary Range: $18.00 To $19.00 Hourly

A Behavioral Support Staff* assists individuals with IDD and/or autism in daily living activities, personal care, skill development, and community involvement to promote independence and well-being. BSS' are required to complete online documentation in an electronic heath record (EHR) each shift.

Job Duties include:

• Manage and address challenging behaviors.
• Seek to understand participant’s individual method(s) of communication.
• Implement individualized behavior intervention plans (BIPs) or other person-centered plans developed by teachers, specialists, or behavioral consultants.
• Use positive behavior support strategies to encourage appropriate behavior and social interactions among participants and others.
• Assist with activities, transitions, and routines to minimize disruptions and promote positive behavior.
• Help develop the participant’s social emotional skills, such as self-regulation, conflict resolution, and empathy, through modeling and guided practice.
• Foster a sense of belonging and self-confidence in participants by providing encouragement and positive reinforcement.
• Respond to behavioral crises in the home, community, and day program setting by deescalating situations and ensuring the safety of others present.
• Follow established protocols for managing severe behavioral incidents and seek additional support when necessary.
• Communicate regularly with supervisor and families.
• Participate in team meetings and or Individualized Service Plan (ISP) meetings as needed.
