Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking a Behavioral Support Specialist to enhance quality of life for individuals by providing tailored behavioral interventions, assessments, and individualized plans across home, school, and community settings.

You will collaborate with clients, families, and multidisciplinary teams, monitor progress through data collection, and adjust strategies to promote independence, social integration, and wellbeing.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Special Education, or related field.
  • Experience with individuals with behavioral challenges in clinical or community settings.
  • Knowledge of behavioral assessment tools and intervention strategies.
  • Knowledge of Pennsylvania ODP requirements and Chapter 6400 Regulations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive behavioral assessments to identify client needs and challenges.
  • Develop and implement individualized behavior support plans based on assessment data and best practices.
  • Provide direct support and training to clients to encourage positive behaviors and reduce challenging behaviors.
  • Collaborate with families, caregivers, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure consistency and effectiveness of interventions.
  • Monitor client progress through data collection and analysis, adjusting plans as necessary to meet evolving needs.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of services, progress notes, and incident reports.
  • Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and professional development activities to stay current with behavioral support methodologies.

About the Role:

The Behavioral Support Specialist plays a critical role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals by providing tailored behavioral interventions and support. This position focuses on assessing behavioral needs, developing individualized plans, and implementing strategies that promote positive behavior change and skill development. The specialist collaborates closely with clients, families, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure consistent and effective support across various environments. Through ongoing monitoring and data collection, the specialist evaluates the effectiveness of interventions and makes necessary adjustments to optimize outcomes. Ultimately, this role contributes to fostering independence, social integration, and overall well-being for the individuals served.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Special Education, or a related field.
  • Experience working with individuals with behavioral challenges, preferably in a clinical or community setting.
  • Knowledge of behavioral assessment tools and intervention strategies.
  • Knowledge of Pennsylvania ODP requirements and Chapter 6400 Regulations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with clients and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in behavioral support.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification as a Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA) or Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).
  • Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism spectrum disorder.
  • Training in crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques.
  • Familiarity with data collection software and electronic health records.
  • Advanced coursework or training in applied behavior analysis (ABA) or related therapeutic approaches.
