Job summary

Applied Counseling Consulting Services (ACCS) seeks a Behavioral Support Specialist to work with clients in home and community settings. You will implement Behavior Support Plans (BSPs) and ISPs, collaborating with treatment teams to enhance client outcomes.

The role requires a Master’s degree (or PA license) with BCBA supervision available; evenings/weekends may be required. Flexible scheduling, training, mileage reimbursement, and benefits are provided.

Job Title: Behavioral Support Specialist (BSS)

Employment Type: Part Time

Schedule: Flexible schedule: 15hrs direct a month and 8hrs consult a month

Pay Rate: $40-50/hr

What is A Behavioral Support Specialist?

As a key member of the team at Applied Counseling and Consulting Services (ACCS), the Behavior Support Specialist will work directly with clients and their support teams to implement Behavior Support Plans (BSPs) and Individual Support Plans (ISPs), in home and community settings. This role involves close collaboration with team members to develop and implement behavioral support goals, ensuring individualized and comprehensive strategies are utilized to enhance client outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop individualized and comprehensive plans utilizing positive strategies to support each individual.
  • Conduct Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs) to inform support strategies.
  • Create methods for tracking the effectiveness of Behavior Support Plans.
  • Complete direct care visits and conduct telephone consultations.
  • Monitor and analyze data; make necessary adjustments based on findings.
  • Maintain detailed, consistent, compliant, and timely daily data and notes for each client, including Monthly Progress Notes (MPN) and Quarterly Progress Notes (QPN), to track behavior interventions, outcomes, and progress.
  • Provide training and consultation to individuals served, families, stakeholders, friends, and direct care workers.
  • Collaborate with treatment teams, actively participating in ISP/BSP meetings.
  • Lead case management efforts among ACCS team members.
  • Develop individualized crisis plans and provide crisis intervention support.
  • Conduct periodic risk evaluation assessments.
  • Maintain professional and timely communication with all team members.
  • Participate in company meetings and training sessions.
Additional Requirements
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed; dependability is essential.
  • Flexibility in hours; ACCS cannot guarantee specific minimum weekly hours.
  • Represent ACCS appropriately while working from home, in the main office, or at other locations; adhere to standard business practices.
  • Respond promptly to formal business communications, including emails, voicemails, and newsletters.

Skills & Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree or higher in Psychology, Special Education, Counseling, Social Work, Education, or Applied Behavioral Analysis, REQUIRED
    • AND/OR have a PA Behavior Specialist License (LBS)
    • AND/OR BCBA – ACCS offers supervision to those pursuing BCBA
  • Ability to adapt to various work, social, and interpersonal situations.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and multitask.
  • Capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proficient listening skills and comprehension of verbal and written instructions.

  • Ability to write clearly, concisely, and logically.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.
