Job summary

South Sound YMCA is seeking a Behavioral Support Liaison for School Aged Childcare (SACC) to assess and support children with complex needs. This role collaborates with YMCA staff, school district specialists, and families to implement behavior mitigation strategies and promote positive engagement in Y Care and Seasonal Day Camps.

The position emphasizes observation, data-backed decisions, conflict resolution, and a culture of Belonging, Achievement, and Relationships aligned with Y Core Values.

POSITION SUMMARY:The School Aged Childcare (SACC) Behavioral Support Liaison conducts behavioral assessments andprovides support and consultation to YMCA Staff serving children enrolled in Y Care and/or Seasonal DayCamps who have been identified with complex and/or high needs, behavioral, developmental, and/orphysical, that may impact their ability to participate successfully in program activities. Thisposition helps create and maintain a culture of Belonging, Achievement, and Relationships(BAR) that aligns with the Y Core Values and Guiding Principles.This individual will have the skills necessary to be comfortable with conflict resolution, proficient withobservation and analysis to make informed decisions, work well with both adults and children, andprovide objective feedback to support engagement in Y Care and/or Seasonal Day Camps. Additionally,this individual will act as a liaison between the YMCA and School District Behavioral Specialists tosupport consistency of mitigation techniques from school day to Y Care.This is a grant-funded position and will be reevaluated after the first year of funding to determine if itcontinues. Establishes an observation routine to support morning and afternoon Y Care hours tobe present on-site at a minimum of two morning shifts and up to three afternoonshifts within a two-week work schedule.b. Assesses Y Care operations and curriculum to support youth with complex needs andmay develop curriculum to support appropriate emotional regulationc. Supports Y Care staff to facilitate Parent/Caregiver conversations that include but arenot limited to Plans of Success, Re-entry plans, and/or Behavior Notifications tosupport successful engagement in Y Cared. Coordinates planning, implementation and evaluation of SACC programs to supportpositive behaviors and mitigation techniques by incorporating a combination ofprogram facilitation, SEL best practices, and transition techniques that can bestandardized across all Y Care sitese. Communicates with Program Directors and site staff on any progress notes, problems,or other concerning information which occurred during Y Care hours regarding childrenwith complex needs2. Training/Coachinga. Develops and implements behavioral support training materials for Y Care staff as partof quality engagement standards across all Y Care/Seasonal Day Camp sitesb. Participates in site staff meetings to discuss implementation of training materialsto assist behavioral needs for site staff to run a high-quality Y Care sitec. Supports on-site staff and volunteers with coaching conversations to empower them toimplement mitigation techniques and strategies when needed while on site3. Documentation/Reportinga. Maintains appropriate record keeping, including but not limited to incident reports anddiscipline records to support parent conversations, enrollment decisions, and follow upstrategiesb. Provides appropriate referrals for child and family support services when/if neededc. Supports quarterly reports of Complex Needs Grant to show progress and impact offunds being used by maintaining accurate records as established in the grantrequirements and guidelines4. Relationship/Safetya. Fosters positive relationships with staff, children, families, school personnel and thecommunityb. Maintains safety and health standards by overseeing responses in Health Care SafetyZone to determine priority behaviors and support positive interventionJOB REQUIREMENTS:1. Demonstrate knowledge ina. Behavior management skills specific to school-age childrenb. Appropriate assessments for various behavioral challenges related to difficultbehaviorsc. Program management skills2. Familiar with IEP, 504, and other assessment tools to determine any necessary proactiveintervention techniques for successful engagement in Y Care3. Provide and lead trainings for Y Care staff to support children with complex needs and allchildren enrolled in Y CareQUALIFICATIONS:1. Be 21 years of age or older2. 30 or more college credits with a preference in Youth Development, Social Work, ChildPsychology, Counseling3. Two years or more of experience working with children in large group settings, out-of-schooltime(OST) programming, and seasonal day camp settings4. Experience with using behavioral analysis and observations tools to support mitigation andmanagement techniques for youth with complex and/or high needs5.
