Job summary

Brownstone School in Bergen County is seeking a Teacher Assistant (Behavioral) for the 2026-2027 school year. This 10-month, non-certificated position supports students with significant educational disabilities and requires the ability to perform physical work, including lifting up to 25 lbs.

Qualifications include a high school diploma, effective written and oral expression, and experience with students with disabilities. NJ residency within one year of hire is required.

• Must be able to perform physical work, which requires frequent bending and lifting. Independently lift/carry up to 25 lbs., more than 25 lbs. with assistance.
• Able to support middle school academics.
• Experienced computer/clerical skills - highly preferred.
• Experience working with students with behavioral disabilities - preferred.
• Willing and able to implement Handle with Care techniques and de-escalation strategies.
• New Jersey residence within one (1) year from date of hire.
