Position Title:

Behavioral Specialist/BCBA

Position Summary:

The Behavioral Specialist conducts functional analysis assessments and writes behavior intervention plans. Responsible for generating and implementing programs to remediate behavioral and social problems for students eligible for severely emotionally disturbed and autistic programs. Provides consultation to school personnel and parents, serves as the district’s behavioral intervention case manager, trains personnel, and offers ongoing consultation and feedback related to behavioral treatment. Additional duties may include consultation on inclusion, participation in IEP meetings, curriculum development, and training staff and parents on positive behavioral supports.

Qualifications:

Current certification as a BCBA, BCABA, or eligibility for certification, with a Master’s Degree in a relevant field. Must have experience working with students with autism.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Screen referrals for behavioral assessments and interventions.
  2. Participate in identifying social/behavioral problems as part of a team.
  3. Design, implement, and follow up on behavioral management programs.
  4. Consult with classroom teachers regarding behavioral, social, or personal issues.
  5. Conduct observations, data collection, and interviews.
  6. Train staff in data collection and intervention strategies.
  7. Analyze data to determine functions of behaviors.
  8. Graph data and include in assessment reports.
  9. Train staff on behavioral intervention implementation.
  10. Provide ongoing feedback to staff on treatment integrity.
  11. Adjust behavioral plans based on data-driven decisions.
  12. Ensure timelines are met for assessments and interventions.
  13. Assist in developing and documenting intervention processes.
  14. Monitor progress of behavioral plans to ensure student success.
  15. Perform other duties as assigned by administration.
