BEHAVIORAL SCIENCES/ALCOHOL and OTHER DRUG STUDIES: Adjunct / Substitute Instructor

Location: District Wide. Position type: Adjunct.

Part‑time/temporary faculty positions offer flexible hours and the opportunity to assist a diverse group of adult students in achieving their educational goals. These positions are as‑needed and applicants should live within commuting distance to San Diego.

Assignments may include a combination of day, evening, weekend, and/or off‑campus classes.

Major Responsibilities

• Provide instruction in accordance with the established curriculum and course outlines.
• Be available to students outside of class and maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics.
• Maintain current knowledge in the subject matter areas and fulfill all professional responsibilities of a part‑time/temporary faculty member.
• Teach all scheduled classes, maintain accurate records, and create an environment that encourages free discussion of ideas, interests, and issues.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Bachelor's degree AND at least 2 years of professional experience directly related to the area of assignment.
2. Associate degree AND at least 6 years of professional experience directly related to the area of assignment.
3. Equivalent qualifications with at least 6 years of professional experience.
4. Demonstrated cultural competency, sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students and staff.

Desired Qualifications

Equivalent degree or pending degree may be considered when supported by appropriate documentation.

Licenses / Credentials

California Community College Instructor Credential in Psychology (valid for life).

Pay Information

Salary is determined by the Adjunct College Salary Schedules based on official transcripts and credentials.
