Job summary

Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus is seeking a Unit Coordinator to support nursing units with secretarial and environmental duties under RN supervision. You will manage patient charts, operate hospital communications, and assist with admissions, transfers and discharges.

The role requires a high school diploma, CPR certification, strong computer and customer service skills, and a willingness to float between behavioral health units as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Completion of an approved unit coordinator or clerk course is preferred.
• Current CPR certification (BLS-Health Care Provider) is required.

Responsibilities

• Monitors and maintains patient charts and medical records.
• Operates communication systems including telephone, paging, and pneumatic tube.
• Assists with greeting, admission, registration, transfer, transport, and discharge of patients.
• Keeps unit and office supplies stocked and maintains regulatory standards.
• Acts as a preceptor for orientation and training of other Unit Coordinator staff.
• Coordinates transport of medications between Pharmacy and practitioners or storage areas.
• Initiates Code Blue/Medical Assist/ACT and communicates essential information to staff.
