Job summary

Wellstone's River Crossing Withdrawal Management facility seeks a Behavioral Health Technician to support detoxification, teach basic living skills, and collaborate with the therapeutic team to ensure care plans are followed.

You will learn proper documentation, complete shift duties including bed checks, incident reporting, and upkeep tasks, while adhering to state standards and pursuing relevant certifications to advance in mental health.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.

• Familiar with computers and Microsoft Suite.

• Exceptional customer service experience.
• Certified in CPR and SAMA (or ability to obtain).

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction, guidance, encouragement, and reinforcement to clients admitted to River Crossing Withdrawal Management facility.
• Assist with coordination of client activities and document progress in the Electronic Health Record.
• Perform 30-minute bed checks with notes, shift observations, and reports.
• Report client or staff incidents to the supervisor promptly.
• Maintain a clean, safe environment and assist with housekeeping as needed.
• Demonstrate safety skills including fire drills and emergency procedures.
• Attend staff meetings, in-service trainings, and stay current on trainings/certifications.
• Report to work on time and submit timesheets and leave requests promptly.
• Report facility or maintenance issues and assist in upkeep of facility/equipment.
• Perform de-escalation techniques and crisis interventions as required.
• May be required to lift clients with assistance.
• Complete other duties as assigned.

Job description

The Behavioral Health Technician cares for clients at our River Crossing Withdrawal Management facility. The goal of this position is to help clients manage detoxification, teach basic living skills, and partner with the therapeutic team to ensure clients’ treatment care plans are followed. Our BHTs will learn proper documentation techniques and other state/federal standards followed by the Alabama Department of Mental Health, earn certifications in their trainings and create a path forward with a career in Mental Health. This is a part-time, hourly position that will work Saturdays and Sundays, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM.

What you’ll be doing:

• Provide consistent instruction, guidance, encouragement, and reinforcement to the clients that are admitted to our River Crossing Withdrawal Management facility.
• Work closely with the Treatment Team by assisting with the coordination of client activities to include regularly implementing basic living skills training objectives as scheduled and documenting clients’ progress in a timely manner in the Electronic Health Record.
• Regularly complete 30-minute bed checks with documentation of staff notes, shift observations, and other reports in a timely and accurate manner.
• Report any client or staff incidents or injuries to the appropriate supervisor in a timely manner.
• Ensure clients comply with rules, maintaining a clean and safe environment to include performance of housekeeping, assisting clients where necessary.
• Demonstrate good safety skills including fire drills, emergency procedures, and back safety techniques.
• Promote a positive work environment, including positive relationships with clients and their families, supervisors, and co-workers.
• Attend staff meetings, in-service meetings, and trainings as required, staying current on all trainings/certifications.
• Report to work on time as scheduled, remaining on shift until able to be relieved; correctly complete and submit timesheets and leave requests in a timely manner.
• Report any facility or maintenance issues in a timely fashion and assist in the maintenance/housekeeping of the facility and equipment.
• Perform verbal and at times physical de‑escalation techniques as required, in addition to crisis interventions.
• May be required to lift clients at times, with the assistance of others.
• Complete other duties as assigned.
