Job summary

Wellstone River Crossing Withdrawal Management facility in Huntsville, AL is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for weekend night shifts (7:00 PM–7:00 AM) on a part-time basis. The RN will assess clients, document progress, and support treatment plans while maintaining compliance with state and federal regulations.

You’ll supervise Behavioral Health Techs, coordinate with labs, assist discharge planning, and help maintain a safe, therapeutic environment.

Qualifications

• Valid Alabama State Nursing License.
• Minimum of two years’ experience in the mental health field.
• Experience in Withdrawal Management preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient computer skills to include Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent organizational and documentation skills.
• Excellent customer service experience.
• SAMA certification (or ability to obtain).

Job Details: Level: Experienced, Job Location: Huntsville, AL 35806, Position Type: Part Time, Education Level: Nurse License, Travel Percentage: Up to 25%, Job Shift: 3rd Shift (Weekends), Job Category: Nonprofit - Social Services, Job Description: The Registered Nurse at our River Crossing Withdrawal Management facility will maintain client care by evaluating clients for emergent care needs and supporting our therapeutic team within client treatment plans. The RN will properly document the medical progress and notes of clients while adhering with Center, state, and federal regulations. This position will be working Saturdays and Sundays, 7:00PM - 7:00AM.

What you’ll be doing:

• Conduct vital signs, i.e. orthostatic blood pressure, weight, height, pulse rate information on clients of our 16-bed facility.
• Assist with discharge planning.
• Provide oversight and guidance to the Behavioral Health Techs working with the clients.
• Obtain information from clients regarding his or her physical status.
• Make inquiries of clients to include any changes with him/her, symptoms, etc.
• Assess medication side effects and/or adverse reactions.
• Perform medication monitoring.
• Perform crisis intervention techniques as needed.
• Administer injections as needed and document in clients’ electronic medical record.
• Interface with local laboratories to obtain test results as needed.
• Complete and maintain documentation in a timely manner.
• Report any client or staff incidents or injuries to the appropriate supervisor in a timely manner.
• Ensure clients comply with rules, maintaining a clean and safe environment to include performance of housekeeping, assisting clients where necessary.
• Demonstrate good safety skills including fire drills, emergency procedures and back safety techniques.
• Promote a positive work environment, including positive relationships with clients, their families, supervisors, and co-workers.
• Attend staff meetings in-service meetings, and trainings as required; stay current on all trainings/certifications.
• Maintain Nursing licensure in Alabama.
• Provide a safe environment and promote quality care through adherence to established standards of care and facility policies, procedures and protocols.
• Report to work on time as scheduled, remaining on shift until able to be relieved; correctly complete and submit timesheets and leave requests in a timely manner.
• Report any facility or maintenance issues in a timely fashion and assist in the maintenance/housekeeping of the facility and equipment.
• Perform verbal and, at times, physical de-escalation techniques as required, in addition to crisis interventions.
• May be required to lift clients at times, with assistance.
• Complete other duties as assigned.
