Qualifications

  • Valid California EMT, MA, CNA, LVN, RN, or LPT license required.
  • RADT-1 Certification must be obtained within 90 days of hire.

Shift: 2nd Shift, 2:30pm-11:00pm. Friday-Tuesday

SUMMARY:
The Health Technician works closely with each of the clients and clinical staff on an individual basis, providing assistance in medication observation, medical appointment scheduling, and overall client health in an intensive inpatient health care facility.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Observe clients, charting and reporting changes in clients' conditions, such as adverse reactions to medication, and taking necessary action.
  • Record withdrawal symptoms and collected data.
  • Collect UA samples for lab preparation.
  • Document medication observations per company policy.
  • Educate clients regarding prescriptions and medication management (Licensed Personnel Only).
  • Knowledge of detox medications and different types of substance abuse withdrawal symptoms.
  • Measure and record clients’ vital signs.
  • Ensure accurate documentation on medication observations, monitor medication audits/counts, and inventory.
  • Record data and communicate with physicians for medical clearance related to treatment, planning, and discharge.
  • Observe client concerns and recommend emergency medical care when necessary.
  • Perform inventory checks and maintain nursing supplies and over-the-counter medication supplies; responsible for requesting inventory and requisitioning supplies/instruments.
  • Client documentation and summary reporting at shift end.
  • Client rounds dependent upon census level of care.
  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations, ADA, and Joint Commission policies and procedures regarding client and company confidentiality.
  • Other duties as requested by leadership.
  • Attend in-service training, educational workshops, and staff meetings.
  • Assist clients with filling/refilling prescriptions.
  • Assist clients with making outside appointments for medical care/management.
  • Coordinate transportation for outside appointments/ordered labs.
  • Coordinate payment to pharmacy for medications with clients.
  • Document outside appointment information into client charts and follow up with prescribed regimens.
  • Witness medication destruction with a pharmacy representative.
REQUIREMENTS:
The following are the qualifications required to perform the essential functions of this position. Qualifications may be subject to modification based on the Americans with Disabilities Act.
  • Medical: Health Technician must have a valid California EMT, MA, CNA, LVN, RN, or LPT license.
  • Behavioral: Health Technicians must have a valid RADT-1 Certification upon hire or within their first ninety days.
  • Must have a valid California driver’s license and liability insurance if driving a personal vehicle on Center business.
  • Vision, hearing, manual dexterity, and hand-eye coordination must be adequate for performance of job duties.
  • Able to sit at a desk, use keyboard, write, and physically perform other job duties.
  • Able to move about the facility to observe clients and staff.
  • One year of experience is preferred. Experience in a residential healthcare facility, behavioral health, mental health, hospital, or other related fields preferred.
  • Basic computer skills; proficiency in electronic medical record systems preferred.

    • Position requires work in a temperature-controlled environment 80-90% of the time spent indoors or in an air-conditioned environment.
    • Ability to move 25 lbs.
    • Ability to remain working at a fixed computer workstation.
