Job description

This is a 2nd Shift, 2:30pm-11:00pm. Friday-Tuesday

SUMMARY:
The Health Technician works closely with each of the clients and clinical staff, on an individual basis providing assistance in the areas of medication observation and medical appointment scheduling, as well as overall client health, in an intensive inpatient health care facility.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Observation of clients, charting and reporting changes in clients' conditions, such as adverse reactions to medication or recording a change in treatment, and taking any necessary action.
  2. Record withdrawal symptoms, and record collected data.
  3. Collecting UA samples to prepare for the lab.
  4. Document medication observations per company policy.
  5. Educate clients regarding prescriptions and medication management (Licensed Personnel Only).
  6. Knowledge of detox medications, and different types of substance abuse withdrawal symptoms.
  7. Measure and record clients’ vital signs.
  8. Ensure accurate documentation on medication observations orders and monitor medication audits/counts and inventory.
  9. Record data and communicate with physician for medical clearance in relation to treatment, planning and discharge.
  10. Observe client concerns and recommend client to emergency medical care when necessary.
  11. Perform inventory check and maintenance of nursing supplies and over the counter medication supplies, responsible for requesting inventory and requisition supplies/instruments.
  12. Client documentation and summary reporting at shift end.
  13. Client rounds dependent upon census level of care.
  14. Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations, ADA and Joint Commission policies and procedures boundaries and client and company confidentiality.
  15. Other duties as requested by leadership.
  16. Attends in-service training, educational workshops, and staff meetings.
  17. Assist client with filling/refilling prescriptions.
  18. Assist client with making outside appointments for medical care/management.
  19. Coordinate transportation for outside appointments/ordered labs.
  20. Coordinate payment to pharmacy for medications with clients.
  21. Document outside appointment information into client chart and follow up with prescribed regimen.
  22. Witness medication destruction with a pharmacy representative.
REQUIREMENTS:
The following are the qualifications required to perform the essential functions of this position. Qualifications may be subject to modification based on the Americans with Disabilities Act.
  1. Medical: Health Technician must have a valid California EMT, MA, CNA, LVN, RN, or LPT license.
  2. Behavioral: Health Technicians have a valid RADT-1 Certification upon hire or within their first ninety days.
  3. Must have valid California driver’s license and liability insurance if driving a personal vehicle on Center business.
  4. Vision, hearing, manual dexterity, and hand-eye coordination must be adequate for performance of job duties.
  5. Able to sit at a desk, use keyboard, write, and physically perform other job duties.
  6. Able to move about the facility to observe clients and staff.
  7. One year experience is preferred. Experience in a residential healthcare facility, behavioral health, mental health, hospital or other related fields preferred.
  8. Basic computer skills, proficiency in electronic medical record systems preferred.

    • Position requires work in a temperature controlled environment 80-90% of the time spent indoors or in an air conditioned environment.
