Job summary

Northwell Health's Norwalk Hospital is seeking a Psychiatric Technician to provide nursing care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. You will lead groups and activities, support patient education, and help maintain a safe, therapeutic environment on a Behavioral Health unit.

Required: one year of psychiatric experience preferred; high school diploma or equivalent; BLS/CPR within 90 days; CPI or de-escalation training within 6 months. Shifts include Day/Eve with three 8-hour shifts.

Qualifications

• One year of work experience with psychiatric population preferred.
• BLS/CPR required within 90 days of start date.
• CPI or other de-escalation technique training within 6 months of hire.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.

Responsibilities

• Provides patient care under the Registered Nurse supervision.
• Leads groups & activities with patients and education related to care.
• Maintains a safe, therapeutic milieu and communicates effectively with the team.
• Documents patient data and reports changes to the RN promptly.
