Job summary

Long Island Community Hospital in New York is seeking a Psychiatric Technician - Behavioral Health for full-time nights (7PM–7AM, alternating days). The role collaborates with Behavioral Health staff to observe, care for, and treat an adult psychiatric population in an emergency setting.

Responsibilities include documenting observations, assisting with 1:1 monitoring, applying restraints per policy, maintaining confidentiality, and supporting safety.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to work effectively with Behavioral Health patients.
• Knowledge of non-violent crisis intervention technique.
• First Aid Training.
• BLS Certification.
• De-escalation Training.
• Occasionally lift up to 25 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Provide observation, care, and treatment to adult psychiatric patients in an emergency setting.
• Document patient behavior and changes during 1:1 observation and communicate to RN/MD as needed.
• Apply restraints appropriately per policy on an annual basis.
• Maintain patient confidentiality per NYS and Federal guidelines.
• Complete documentation and 1:1 notes for continuity of care.
• Assist with transporting patients, belongings, supplies, and rounds as needed.
• Work as part of a psychiatric team to ensure a safe environment.
