Job summary

The Emily Program is seeking a part-time Behavioral Health Technician to support residential and inpatient settings in North Carolina. The role emphasizes facilitating therapeutic activities, assisting clients in developing skills to manage eating disorders, and maintaining a recovery-focused environment.

Responsibilities include collaborating with a multidisciplinary team on care plans, supporting meals and outings, and documenting observations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• At least an associate degree or higher, or 2+ years healthcare experience in a related role preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, behavioral health, or related field; relevant certification/licensure preferred.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and be authorized to drive.

Responsibilities

• Partner with the multi-disciplinary team on care plans and treatment, assisting in admissions and supporting programming.
• Assist clients in therapeutic meals and snacks and support during structured outings and recreation.
• Engage with residents, document observations, and report to charts as needed.
• Monitor bathroom use per client direction and document exercise activities.
• Enforce policies and complete hourly room-checks and other tasks.

Position Overview:

The Behavioral Health Technician supports the residential and inpatient milieu by facilitating therapeutic activity groups, assisting clients in acquiring skills to manage their eating disorder, maintaining a recovery-oriented environment, and providing general support and assistance.

Schedule:

• Part‑time, 0.4 FTE (16 hours/week)
• 3rd shift, 10p-6:30a
• Rotating weekends and holidays required (Pending staff needs)

Compensation Disclosure:

• BHT I: Starting hourly range between $18.00-22.00

_ Final Compensation offered will be within pay range based on qualifications/experience met for the position _

How Behavior Health Technicians Empower Recovery:

• Partners with the multi-disciplinary team on care plan and treatment, assisting in admissions, supporting or assisting clients in programming
• Participates in therapeutic meals and snacks and provides support during structured outings and recreation
• Available to engage, challenge, and support residents as needed. Reports observations and documents in charts
• Monitors and supports bathroom use per client treatment direction. Monitors and documents exercise.
• Responsible for enforcing appropriate policies with residents and completing all expected tasks including hourly room-checks

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Associate degree or higher or at least 2 years of healthcare experience in a similar position/ related field preferred. (i.e. Paraprofessional, Mental Health Technician, Behavior Specialist, Recovery Coach).
• Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, behavioral health, or a related field; a relevant certification or licensure preferred.
• Must have valid driver's license and be authorized to drive
• Previous direct mental health experience preferred
