Comprehensive life Resources is looking for a Behavioral Health Tech to join our team in Tacoma, Washington.

Part Time: Tuition assistance (for teammates working an average of 20hrs a week), Continuing Education Assistance (for teammates working an average of 20hrs a week), Employee Assistance Program (up to 6 consultations per year), Part time sick and vacation leave, Bereavement Leave, 403(B) Retirement Plan, Student Loan Repayment (for teammates working an average of 20hrs a week), Life Insurance (voluntary), Long Term Disability (Voluntary)

Scope

Pearl Youth Residence (PYR), which is one of four CLIP programs (children's long term inpatient program),is a positive learning place for youth, families, and staff. PYR serves youth ages 12-17 from all around Washington state. Treatment includes a multidisciplinary team consisting of case managers, therapists, psychiatrists, recreation therapist, nursing staff, and milieu staff.Residents are certified for six months, and the average length of stay is approximately 9 months.The residents attend school onsite through the Tacoma School District and classrooms are supported by paraeducators and behavioral health technicians.

The behavioral health technician (BHT)role involves creating a safe and therapeutic environment, facilitating group activities, and assisting with daily living tasks of youth who are receiving inpatient treatment for serious mental health challenges.BHTs will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the emotional and physical well-being of the residents.BHTs serve as a member of an organization that welcomes, engages and serves individuals with complex wellness needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the care, safety, and supervision of residents on the therapeutic milieu through positive interactions and direct proactive supervision. Adhere to policies and procedures.
  • Utilize individualized care appropriate to the specific needs and strengths of residents. Utilize appropriate limit setting and resolution focused de-escalation techniques.
  • Monitor, implement and support the milieu/program and school schedule.
  • Interact professionally, cooperatively, and promptly with other team members
  • Establish and maintain a therapeutic relationship with residents and actively support the program by participating in all activities during scheduled shifts.
  • Work to ensure effective communication among team members during and between shifts, including providing information about the time, location, and nature of activities both in and out of the facility. Communication channels include phone, Teams, radios, email, etc.
  • Document and submit reports on all accidents, special treatment approaches, and extraordinary occurrences.
  • Attend all assigned meetings, staff meetings, and designated staff training and consultation sessions.
  • Report unsafe conditions and needed repairs to shift supervisor, program manager, or safety officer.
  • Ensure that ethical and professional standards of practice are maintained by following all CLR policies and seeking regular consultation.
  • In addition to the above, perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or GED. AA degree in Behavioral Science or BA or equivalent experience preferred. One year experience working with children/adolescents with mental health or behavioral health challenges.
  • WA State DOH credential/license.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Current food handlers permit.
  • Ability to be certified in Handle with Care verbal de-escalation and physical restraint strategies.
  • Skilled in MS Word and Outlook.
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, written, and verbal communications skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task, prioritize deadlines, work independently, take initiative, and maintain confidentiality.
  • Annual flu and TB shot verification and willing to follow other measures as directed by Infection Control Manager.
  • Successful certification of HWC training within 60 days of hire and annual recertification.
