Regular FT 36 Hours Per Week

Shifts:

Under the direction of the Nurse Manager, this position performs a variety of routine activities to provide physical and psychological care to patients with primary or secondary mental health diagnoses. The Behavioral Health Technician II (BHT II) collaborates with all treatment team members, including the patient and family.

Hourly Pay Rate:

$17.54 - $25.87

Qualifications
Education:

Must meet one of the following:

  • One year of full-time experience as a Behavioral Health Tech at Valleywise Behavioral Health Center or Valleywise Health Medical Center with above-average performance, or
  • Two years of full-time behavioral health work experience, or
  • Any associate degree plus 15 months of relevant experience, or
  • 18 credit hours in a behavioral health-related field plus 18 months of experience, or
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field plus one year of experience, or
  • Bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Health or a related field.
Experience:
  • Providing direct services such as counseling, monitoring, recreational activities, or transportation to individuals with mental health or substance use issues in behavioral health, medical, educational, or correctional settings.
  • Preferably 1-2 years of relevant experience.
Specialized Training:
  • Crisis Prevention Intervention Training required.
Certification/Licensure:
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association or obtained during training.
  • Valid fingerprint clearance card for Mesa - Unit 2 Adolescent, or application submitted within 7 days of hire, valid throughout employment.
  • Must be at least 21 years old, or 18+ with appropriate licensing or certification.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to provide behavioral health services to diverse populations, including older adults, individuals with substance abuse issues, and those with co-occurring disorders or domestic violence victims.
  • Basic computer skills for navigating electronic medical records.
  • Effective communication skills in English.
