Job summary

Sanford Health in Fargo, ND is seeking a Behavioral Health Technician to support the care and safety of psychiatric patients under licensed staff supervision. You will assist in leading groups, support daily living activities, and help implement treatment plans.

Responsibilities include assisting with transfer techniques, meal support, and basic health tasks while maintaining compassionate patient interactions and adhering to facility policies.

Qualifications

  • Must have good human relations and communication skills.
  • Must be registered as a Nurse Assistant through the North Dakota Department of Health within four months from the date of initial employment.
  • Basic knowledge of patient care principles and medical terminology.

Responsibilities

  • Lead groups for leisure, exercise, stress management and socialization.
  • Assist in daily living activities (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting).
  • Assist in transferring, repositioning, and walking with proper techniques and equipment.
  • Assist residents with meals and dining, provide water and supplements.
  • Collect samples for basic lab work after training.
  • Follow procedures and instructions from licensed clinical staff.

Department Details

Our program provides a multidisciplinary approach to the assessment and treatment of pediatric feeding disorders from birth to age 18. The intensive partial hospital and outpatient Feeding Programs offer treatment for children with feeding problems (including oral aversion, selective eating, and limited food intake). The behavioral health technician gathers data, assists in preparation and organization necessary for the patient’s individualized plan of care and can assist in the implementation of the treatment plan.

Job Summary

Contributes to the care and safety of psychiatric patients under the direction and control of the psychiatric staff and patient orders. Assists in leading groups, including groups for leisure or socialization, exercise, stress management and relaxation skills, daily living skill building, and art therapy. May provide assistance with basic health care needs including daily living activities that may include, but are not limited to, bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing/undressing, obtaining and recording vital signs, and providing psychosocial support and other personal care to assigned resident. Assists the patient in transferring, repositioning, and walking using correct and appropriate transfer techniques and equipment. May completes tasks related to food preparation and dining, while creating a positive dining experience for the resident. Assists residents with meals and snacks, provides water and supplements as appropriate. May collect samples of blood and other fluids from patients after completing appropriate laboratory training. Must have good human relations and communication skills. Must be able to follow procedures and instructions given by the licensed clinical staff. Must be able to acquire a basic knowledge of patient care principles, medical terminology and equipment within the assigned service area.
