Brief Description

The Harris Center for Mental Health and IDD (“The HARRIS CENTER”) is looking for a Behavioral Health Technician to join our team. The BHT works under the direction of the Lead Behavioral Health Technician and/or the BHT Supervisor. The role involves providing direct care and support in a dual diagnosis residential treatment program, maintaining a safe, therapeutic environment, and ensuring active engagement in treatment activities. Responsibilities include monitoring client vitals, assisting with daily activities, documentation, and transport, among others.

What You Will Do
  1. Client Supervision and Support:
    • Supervise clients ensuring safety and compliance.
    • Assist with daily activities and monitor behaviors.
    • Conduct room checks and collaborate with healthcare professionals.
    • Address client concerns professionally and serve as a role model.
  2. Treatment Support:
    • Engage clients in group and individual activities.
    • Assist with appointments and enforce treatment plans.
    • Provide crisis intervention as needed.
  3. Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate records of client progress and incidents.
    • Ensure confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
  4. Vital and Behavioral Checks:
    • Monitor and report vital signs and behavioral changes.
  5. Program Support:
    • Maintain the facility’s cleanliness and assist with transportation and food services.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Additional education in behavioral health preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
Skills and Abilities
  • Observation, communication, and crisis intervention skills.
  • Ability to handle high-stress situations and maintain confidentiality.
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of infection control procedures.
