Job summary

Haven Behavioral Healthcare in Dayton, OH, is seeking a Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) to support nursing staff in maintaining a therapeutic milieu. You will perform patient care activities under supervision and ensure safety and accurate documentation.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent with CNA certification or at least 6 months of direct patient care experience.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to professional standards and follow policies and procedures, complying with Joint Commission requirements.
• Apply supportive behavior to de-escalate and therapeutically intervene as needed.
• Inventory patient belongings and secure contraband; complete unit safety checks.
• Follow infection control policies and attend required in-services.
• Assist with vital signs, intake/output, nutrition monitoring, and document findings for the nurse.
• Assist with daily living activities and mobility, maintaining patient dignity and comfort.
• Individualize care to age, disability, and cultural needs of patients.
• Document patient observations accurately in the medical record and communicate outcomes to nursing staff.
• Ensure continuity of care by reporting progress and patient needs to the team.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
