Job summary

Haven Behavioral Healthcare, part of Oceans Healthcare, is seeking a Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) to assist nursing staff and maintain a therapeutic milieu. You will perform routine patient-care tasks, monitor safety, and document observations under supervision.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED, CNA certification or six months bedside experience; strong communication, empathy, and ability to work with diverse populations; BLS and de-escalation training required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• CNA certification or at least 6 months of bedside patient care experience.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and support compliance with unit rules.
• Use de-escalation and therapeutic interventions as needed.
• Inventory patient belongings and secure contraband; perform safety checks.
• Follow infection control policies and attend required in-services.
• Carry out patient care activities under supervision; record vital signs, nutritional intake, weights, and observations.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living and mobility as needed.
• Communicate care updates to nursing staff; document observations accurately.
• Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
