Astria Health is seeking a Behavioral Health Technician for the Toppenish Hospital Behavioral Health Unit. This full-time role supports patient examinations, treatments, and daily living activities under supervision of a nurse or provider.

Responsibilities include patient care, vital signs monitoring, room preparation, crisis de-escalation, and collaboration across teams to ensure safe, compassionate care.

Qualifications

  • High School Education or GED is required.
  • Fluency in English (oral and written) is required.
  • Minimum of one year experience in Behavioral Health or related field.

Responsibilities

Astria Health is seeking a Behavioral Health Technicianto join our team! This position is located at our Astria Toppenish Hospital in the Behavioral Health Unit.

Shift: 12 hour Night shifts - Details regarding days worked will be covered in the interview.

What you get to do every day!

As the Behavioral Health Technician, you will be responsible for assisting with the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a registered nurse or provider, and general clinical duties. You will:



  • Perform and provide patient care duties and assist patients with general hygiene as delegated by Program Director or designee

  • Assist with activities of daily living, monitoring vital signs, and responding promptly to patient needs and requests

  • Prepare and disassemble patient rooms for admission and discharge

  • Provide support for the patient’s therapeutic treatment plan

  • Utilize effective verbal and nonverbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally and respectfully with patients, families, visitors, and colleagues, fostering a supportive and therapeutic atmosphere

  • Frequently observe and record patient information pertinent to treatment plan and report information to clinic team

  • Complete progress notes for assigned patients per program and hospital policy

  • Must be capable of engaging in crisis management using policy-approved verbal de-escalation, physical and mechanical restraint techniques, as trained, when managing potentially dysregulated or combative patients, while ensuring the safety of self, patients, and staff without physical restrictions.

Requirements


  • High School Education or GED

  • WA State Agency Affiliated Counselor Registration Eligible

  • Nursing Assistant Registration/Nursing Assistant Certification Eligible

  • WA State Food Handler Card within 30 days of hire

  • Must maintain BLS

  • Oral and written fluency in the English language

  • Minimum of one year experience in Behavioral Health or related field
