Job description

As a BHT in the IBHS program, you'll work with a Behavior Consultant to provide support to children with special needs in community, home, and school settings to develop individualized skills.

BHT Job Requirements:
  • One of the following educational/experience qualifications is required:
    • Have a certification as a BCaBA
    • Have a certification as an RBT
    • Have a certification as an BCAT
    • Have a behavioral health certification or behavior analysis certification from an organization that is accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies or the American National Standards Institute
    • Have a minimum of 2 years of experience in the provision of behavioral health services
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Ability to complete necessary training successfully
  • The ability to keep up with running children and/or to lift, position, or assist with lifting students is essential to perform this task
  • The essential functions of this job described herein require the ability to exert moderate physical effort in light work, typically involving some combination of bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, kneeling, crouching and brisk walking, which may involve lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling objects and material of moderate weight (40 pounds)
  • Current Acts 34, 114, and 151 clearances required

Behavioral Health Technician Job Description:
  • Implement treatment plan objectives by working directly with children who have autism and related disorders in the IBHS program
  • Provide direct one-on-one therapeutic interventions under the supervision of a Behavior Consultant
  • Work with families to assist them in acquiring skills and enabling them to maximize their child’s progress and independence
  • Communicate regularly with families regarding their child’s progress and issues
  • Provide services in the child’s home and/or community-based settings
  • Supervise the child and maintain safety of the child while working in community-based settings
  • Assist children in developing social skills and facilitate development of peer interactions
  • Attend regular required supervision meetings, individual supervisory sessions, and required trainings
  • Assist in implementing behavior management plans to enable the child’s participation in community-based settings
  • Implement ABA intervention techniques
  • Maintain therapeutic records and data necessary to monitor progress
  • Complete daily progress notes
  • Turn in progress notes and paperwork into the office on time per department policy
  • Other duties as requested
