Position Overview
We are seeking a reliable and compassionate Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) to join our Housing Services team in Springfield, Massachusetts. The BHT is responsible for overseeing daily operations in the residential setting and providing support to clients throughout their treatment journey. This role is vital in maintaining a safe, therapeutic, and structured environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Attend to the day-to-day operations of the Housing Department.
- Complete BHT daily assignments as directed by supervisors.
- Communicate all client concerns and document as required.
- Maintain customer satisfaction through positive client interactions.
- Ensure that clients' immediate needs are addressed promptly.
- Redirect clients respectfully when necessary to ensure safety and structure.
- Report all adverse client behaviors and concerns in accordance with protocols.
- Collaborate with all departments to ensure coordinated care and safety.
- Maintain the physical residence according to Massachusetts Department of Health standards.
- Follow operational systems, including cleaning interior/exterior residential and clinical spaces.
- Document and communicate unsafe conditions and needed repairs to the Lead BHT.
- Provide client transportation per facility policy and supervisor instruction.
- Supervise and document all client activities and conduct regular rounds.
- Observe and conduct Urine Drug Screens.
- Observe self-administration of medication and document in MORs.
- Adhere to all federal, state, and Department of Health standards.
- Manage client emergencies calmly and report appropriately.
- Ensure adherence to daily schedules and facilitate punctual attendance by clients.
- Assist with training new BHT staff as needed.
- Facilitate client groups under supervision of clinical leadership.
- Communicate departmental needs to the Administrator.
- Attend all required staff meetings and training sessions.
- Maintain current state-mandated certifications and trainings.
Qualifications / Required Experience
- Prior experience in a behavioral health, addiction recovery, or residential care setting preferred.
- Ability to remain alert and responsive during all working hours.
- CPR certification required (or must be obtained within 30 days of hire).
