Job summary

GhostRx is recruiting a full-time Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) to join the largest Central Florida behavioral health organization, at its Orlando campus. Working 3×12-hour day or night shifts, you will play an essential role in the care of patients and the safety of the unit across inpatient acute care, crisis stabilization, detox, residential, and outpatient programs.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care and supervision while maintaining a safe, therapeutic environment on the unit.
• Conduct patient rounds every 15 minutes and document observations, behavioral changes, and safety concerns.
• Assist with admissions, discharges, transfers, belongings searches, and patient orientation to the program.
• Support nursing and therapy staff with group activities, psychoeducation sessions, and daily unit management.
• Administer, analyze, and document participant drug screenings according to program protocols.
• Monitor and assist with medication self-administration when applicable under nursing supervision.
• Use crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques to respond to behavioral emergencies and ensure patient and staff safety.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
• Communicate program and patient status changes to the clinical team during shift report.
• Transport patients to appointments and community activities as assigned.
• Uphold patient rights, confidentiality, and HIPAA regulations at all times.

Working 3×12-hour day or night shifts, you will play an essential role in the care of patients and the safety of the unit across inpatient acute care, crisis stabilization, detox, residential, and outpatient programs. You will conduct patient rounds, observe and document behavior, support group and therapeutic activities, assist with admissions and discharges, and work side by side with nurses, therapists, and providers to maintain a safe, structured, and recovery-focused environment for adults and adolescents living with mental health and substance use challenges.

Qualification and Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, human services, or a related field preferred
• Prior experience in behavioral health, mental health, substance use treatment, or a residential/inpatient setting preferred
• Current BLS/CPR certification preferred, or ability to obtain upon hire
• Ability to obtain Level II background clearance (fingerprinting costs covered by employer)
• Valid Florida driver’s license; must be 21 or older with a clean driving record for positions requiring patient transport
• Ability to complete crisis prevention and de-escalation training upon hire
• Strong observation, documentation, and communication skills
• Basic computer proficiency and ability to document in an electronic health record (EHR)
• Compassionate, patient, and non-judgmental approach to working with individuals in crisis or recovery
• Ability to work 3×12-hour day or night shifts on a rotating schedule, including weekends and holidays as assigned
