Job summary

Bradford Health Services is seeking a Behavioral Health Technician to support patients with mental health challenges under clinical supervision. You will implement treatment plans, perform assessments, and assist with daily living activities while ensuring safety and documentation standards are met.

The role emphasizes crisis intervention, collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, and adherence to care protocols to improve patient outcomes in behavioral health settings.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; BH Technician training or cert preferred.
  • Experience in mental/behavioral health settings with direct patient care.
  • Knowledge of clinical documentation standards and ability to maintain records.
  • Basic crisis management and intervention knowledge.
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in clinical assessments and monitor patient behavior to inform treatment plans.
  • Provide direct patient care and assist with daily living activities and therapies.
  • Implement crisis intervention to de-escalate emergencies.
  • Maintain detailed clinical documentation including progress notes and discharge plans.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to update treatment and discharge plans.
  • Support patients with Severe Emotional Disturbance (SED) using specialized care strategies.
  • Ensure a safe environment by following protocols and guidelines.

About the Role:

The Behavioral Health Technician plays a critical role in supporting individuals experiencing mental health challenges by providing direct care and assistance under the supervision of clinical staff. This position focuses on implementing treatment plans, conducting clinical assessments, and ensuring the safety and well-being of patients in various behavioral health settings. The technician is responsible for crisis intervention and management, helping to de-escalate situations and provide immediate support during episodes of emotional or behavioral distress. Additionally, the role involves maintaining accurate and thorough clinical documentation to support continuity of care and discharge planning. Ultimately, the Behavioral Health Technician contributes to improving patient outcomes by fostering a therapeutic environment and collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a Behavioral Health Technician training program or relevant certification preferred.
  • Experience in mental health or behavioral health settings, including direct patient care.
  • Knowledge of clinical documentation standards and ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Basic understanding of crisis management and intervention techniques.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate’s degree or higher in psychology, social work, or a related field.
  • Certification in Crisis Intervention or Mental Health First Aid.
  • Experience working with pediatric or adolescent populations with Severe Emotional Disturbance (SED).
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills tailored to diverse patient populations.
