Job summary

About the Role:

The Behavioral Health Technician plays a critical role in supporting the mental health and well-being of patients by providing direct care and assistance under the supervision of clinical staff. This position involves closely monitoring patients, implementing individualized care plans, and responding effectively to behavioral crises to ensure safety and therapeutic progress. The technician is responsible for maintaining accurate clinical documentation and assisting with clinical assessments to inform treatment planning and discharge processes. By fostering a supportive and structured environment, the Behavioral Health Technician helps patients with serious emotional disturbances (SED) achieve stability and improve their overall functioning. Ultimately, this role contributes to the delivery of high-quality behavioral health services that promote recovery and resilience.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree in a related field preferred.
  • Experience or training in behavioral health, mental health, or related clinical settings.
  • Basic knowledge of clinical documentation and patient care procedures.
  • Ability to perform crisis intervention and manage emergency situations calmly and effectively.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact compassionately with patients and team members.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certification as a Behavioral Health Technician or equivalent credential.
  • Experience working with pediatric or adult populations with serious emotional disturbances (SED).
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and clinical documentation software.
  • Training in advanced crisis management and de-escalation techniques.
  • Background in discharge planning and care coordination within behavioral health settings.
