  • Ensure a safe and therapeutic environment for patients with serious emotional disturbances (SED) by following established protocols and guidelines.

About the Role:

The Behavioral Health Technician plays a critical role in supporting individuals experiencing mental health challenges by providing compassionate, hands-on care and assistance. This position involves working closely with clinical teams to implement treatment plans, conduct clinical assessments, and respond effectively to crisis situations. The technician ensures accurate and timely clinical documentation to support patient care continuity and regulatory compliance. They contribute to the development and execution of discharge plans, facilitating smooth transitions for patients returning to their communities or other care settings. Ultimately, the role aims to promote patient safety, emotional stability, and progress toward recovery within a structured and supportive environment.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree in a related field preferred.
  • Experience in mental health or behavioral health settings, including crisis management and patient care.
  • Knowledge of clinical documentation standards and ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Basic understanding of mental health disorders and crisis intervention techniques.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and communicate clearly with patients and staff.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certification as a Behavioral Health Technician or equivalent credential.
  • Experience working with children and adolescents with serious emotional disturbances (SED).
  • Training in trauma-informed care and de‑s‑calation strategies.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Additional coursework or certification in clinical assessments or discharge planning.
