Job summary

Hickory Treatment Centers is seeking a part-time Behavioral Health Technician for weekend coverage. The role acts as the primary link between clients and clinical staff, supporting the person-centered treatment plan under supervision.

You will monitor client activity, maintain professional boundaries, and document interactions while aiding with daily schedules and group activities. A valid driver’s license and flexible weekends are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to learn quickly, multi-task, and communicate effectively (phone and in-person).
• Positive demeanor with clear professional boundaries with clients.
• Follow directives, adhere to policies, provide client-driven service, and manage time well.
• Scheduling flexibility with weekend rotation is required.
• Must hold valid driver’s license and have reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Interact daily with clients and support individualized treatment plans.
• Maintain ethical boundaries with clients and families.
• Ensure clients attend sessions and follow daily schedules.
• Assist and monitor client activities per shift and center rules.
• Support clients with phone use, computer time, breaks, and meals.
• Lead and gather clients for group programming.
• Document client interactions accurately in the EMR.
• Record shift notes and inventory of client belongings.
• Assist nursing during medication passes and admissions/discharges.

Job Type:Part - Time, Weekends

About the Role:

The Behavioral Health Technician (BHT), is an integral member of the treatment team, functioning as the primary conduit between client, clinical, and medical staff, working to ensure the implementation and integration of the person-centered treatment plan.

Under the immediate supervision of the Behavioral Health Technician Manager, the BHT is responsible for monitoring, observing, and reporting client activities while providing structure and support of the clinical person-centered treatment plan.

Job Qualifications:

• Highschool diploma or equivalent is preferred.
• An ability to learn quickly, multi-task, and utilize effective communication skills, including both telephone and in-person.
• Positive demeanor and clear understanding of professional boundaries with clients.
• Ability to follow directives explicitly, adhere to facility policies, provide client-driven customer service, and exercise time management skills.
• Scheduling flexibility, holiday, and weekend rotation is REQUIRED.
• Musthold valid driver's license with reliable transportation.

Key Responsibilities:

Client Support & Engagement

• Consistent, daily, appropriate interaction with clients while supporting implementation of individualized treatment plans.
• Maintains clear, ethical boundaries with clients and their families
• Ensure clients attend all individual and group treatment sessions and follow daily schedules
• Assists and monitors client activities throughout the shift, including compliance with treatment center rules
• Supports clients with phone use, computer time, smoke breaks, and mealtimes
• Gathers clients for group programming.

Safety, Compliance, & Environment

• Maintains strict confidentiality of all client information per HIPAA guidelines
• Demonstrates awareness of cultural sensitivity and maintains professional boundaries
• Reports safety hazards immediately
• Works continuously to maintain a clean, safe, and functional treatment center environment
• Practices proper infection control, including PPE use and hand hygiene

Documentation & Administrative Duties

• Uses the EMR to accurately document all client interactions with concise, clear communication
• Records shift notes, safety rounds, and client belongings inventory
• Documents instances of client non-compliance
• Follows all processes in the Behavioral Health Procedural Manual

Admissions, Discharges, & Treatment Processes

• Performs client admissions, including drug/alcohol screens and contraband searches
• Assists nursing staff during medication pass times
• Completes duties related to client discharge (graduation, administrative discharge, or AMA)

Teamwork, Training, & Performance

• Attend staff meetings and training courses as directed by the supervisor.
• Participate in ongoing performance improvement activities.

Compensation:

$16 - $18 hourly
