Job summary

Memorial Medical Center Las Cruces is seeking a Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) on a PRN schedule to support the 12-bed Behavioral Health Unit. You will assist with activities of daily living, provide direct patient care, observe behaviors, and support risk assessments in a patient-centered, therapeutic environment.

Required education is a high school diploma; BLS and Handle with Care training must be completed within 45 days of hire.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• BLS certification within 45 days of hire.
• Handle with Care training within 45 days of hire.
• Experience in behavioral health preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs).
• Provide or assist with direct patient care, diagnostics, and therapeutic interventions.
• Observe and record patient behavior and activities.
• Report changes in condition to nursing staff and suggest adjustments to treatment plans.
• Provide crisis intervention on unit and during incoming calls to maintain safety.

Department/Unit Summary

Join our team! The 12-bed Behavioral Health Unit is staffed with 1 nurse and 1 Behavioral Health Technician for up to 8 patients on both day and night shifts. When the census reaches 9-12 patients, an additional nurse or technician is added. Behavioral Health Technicians are dedicated to providing compassionate, patient-centered care for individuals experiencing behavioral health and mental health challenges. The multidisciplinary team works collaboratively to promote patient safety, stabilization, and recovery in a therapeutic environment.

How You'll Contribute

• Assists patients with performing activities of daily living.
• Provides or assists with providing direct patient care, diagnostic procedures and therapeutic interventions.
• Observes and records patient behavior and activities.
• Reports any changes in physical, mental or emotional condition to nursing staff and suggests modifications to the treatment plan.
• Provides crisis intervention with incoming calls and on the unit to maintain safety.
