Job summary

Memorial Medical Center in Las Cruces, NM is seeking a Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) to join our 12-bed Behavioral Health Unit on a PRN schedule. You will assist with activities of daily living, support direct patient care, observe patient behavior, and help implement crisis intervention to maintain safety.

• Education: High School Diploma
• Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) must be obtained within 45 days of hire; Handle with Care (HWC) must be obtained within 45 days of hire

Responsibilities

• Assists patients with activities of daily living.
• Provides or assists with direct patient care, diagnostic procedures and therapeutic interventions.
• Observes and records patient behavior and activities.
• Reports any changes in physical, mental or emotional condition to nursing staff and suggests modifications to the treatment plan.
• Provides crisis intervention with incoming calls and on the unit to maintain safety.

Department/Unit Summary

Join our team! The 12-bed Behavioral Health Unit is staffed with 1 nurse and 1 Behavioral Health Technician for up to 8 patients on both day and night shifts. When the census reaches 9-12 patients, an additional nurse or technician is added. Behavioral Health Technicians are dedicated to providing compassionate, patient-centered care for individuals experiencing behavioral health and mental health challenges. The multidisciplinary team works collaboratively to promote patient safety, stabilization, and recovery in a therapeutic environment.

A Behavioral Health Tech who excels in this role:
