Job summary

Lifepoint Health is seeking a Mental Health Tech to support nursing staff in a behavioral health unit.

The role focuses on direct patient care, monitoring patient conditions, and assisting with daily living activities in a safe, therapeutic environment. CNA preferred; BLS and Handle with Care training must be completed within 45 days of hire.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• CNA preferred to operate with supervision.
• BLS within 45 days of hire; Handle with Care (HWC) within 45 days of hire.
• Requires critical thinking, decisive judgment and ability to work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living.
• Provide direct patient care, diagnostic procedures and therapeutic interventions.
• Observe and record patient behavior; report changes to nursing staff and suggest plan modifications.
• Provide crisis intervention on unit and during incoming calls to maintain safety.

11144 - MENTAL HEALTH TECH Under the supervision of nursing staff provides direct patient care and assists with maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment. Reports to: Senior Behavioral Health Director FLSA: Non-exempt Education: High School Diploma or equivalent Required License: CNA Preferred Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) Must have within 45 days of hire; Handle with Care (HWC) Mush have within 45 days of hire Required Skills Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Essential Functions

Assists patients with performing activities of daily living. Provides or assists with providing direct patient care, diagnostic procedures and therapeutic interventions. Observes and records patient behavior and activities. Reports any changes in physical, mental or emotional condition to nursing staff and suggests modifications to the treatment plan. Provides crisis intervention with incoming calls and on the unit to maintain safety.
