Job summary

HCA Florida North Florida Hospital seeks a Behavioral Health Technician to plan and implement patient care on the Behavioral Health Unit under RN supervision. The role emphasizes observation, interaction, and role modeling to support treatment goals within a multidisciplinary team.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED, be enrolled in nursing school or have 6 months of patient care experience, and meet licensure requirements such as BLS and CPI within 45 days.

Job Summary and Qualifications

POSITION SUMMARY : The Behavioral Health Technician is responsible for planning and implementing patient care services for assigned program, which involves implementing treatment goals as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team and providing continuous patient care, observation, interaction, and role modeling to patients under the direction of an RN on the Behavioral Health Unit.

EDUCATION REQUIRED AND/OR PREFERRED

High school diploma or equivalent (GED) preferred.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED OR PREFERRED

Enrolled in nursing school or 6 months patient care experience in at least one of the following areas: CNA, EMT, PCA, Paramedic, nursing home, hospital, or equivalent experience. Completion of an approved CNA program with direct patient care experience and/or 6 months experience at North Florida Regional may be substituted for the above experience requirement.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES

Demonstrated skills in service excellence, critical thinking, good interpersonal communication skills, ability to read/comprehend written instructions, ability to follow verbal instructions and basic computer usage skills are needed.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: (list required and preferred separately)

CBHT (Certified Behavioral Health Technician) preferred.

Current BLS (Basic Life Support) required.

Current CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) required within 45 days of hire.

AHCA Level 2 background screen and fingerprinting required.
