Job summary

HCA Florida North Florida Hospital is seeking a Behavioral Health Technician to join its interdisciplinary team on the Behavioral Health Unit. You will assist with planning and implementing patient care, monitoring patients, and modeling appropriate behavior under RN supervision.

The role emphasizes teamwork, safety, and compassionate communication with patients and families. Required education includes a high school diploma or GED (preferred) and current BLS; CPI within 45 days; CNA background

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Enrolled in nursing school or 6 months patient care experience in CNA, EMT, PCA, Paramedic, nursing home, hospital, or equivalent experience.
• Completion of an approved CNA program with direct patient care experience and/or 6 months experience at North Florida Regional may be substituted for the above experience requirement.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement patient care for the assigned program under RN supervision.
• Provide continuous patient care, observation, interaction, and role modeling to patients on the Behavioral Health Unit.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary treatment team to meet treatment goals.

Job Summary And Qualifications

POSITION SUMMARY

The Behavioral Health Technician is responsible for planning and implementing patient care services for assigned program, which involves implementing treatment goals as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team and providing continuous patient care, observation, interaction, and role modeling to patients under the direction of an RN on the Behavioral Health Unit.

EDUCATION REQUIRED AND/OR PREFERRED:

High school diploma or equivalent (GED) preferred.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED OR PREFERRED:

Enrolled in nursing school or 6 months patient care experience in at least one of the following areas: CNA, EMT, PCA, Paramedic, nursing home, hospital, or equivalent experience. Completion of an approved CNA program with direct patient care experience and/or 6 months experience at North Florida Regional may be substituted for the above experience requirement.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:

Demonstrated skills in service excellence, critical thinking, good interpersonal communication skills, ability to read/comprehend written instructions, ability to follow verbal instructions and basic computer usage skills are needed.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: (list required and preferred separately)

• CBHT (Certified Behavioral Health Technician) preferred.
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) required.
• Current CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) required within 45 days of hire.
• AHCA Level 2 background screen and fingerprinting required.
