Job summary

The Village South is seeking a Behavioral Health Technician to work with patients facing multiple behavioral health challenges. The role includes crisis counseling, triage and intake, development of safety plans, and coordination of psychiatric appointments within 48 hours.

You will support families and individuals, provide warm hand-offs to community resources, and participate in after-hours crisis coverage.

Qualifications

• One to three years of experience in behavioral health crisis services.
• Familiarity with Monroe County.
• Bachelor’s Degree preferred; High School Diploma required.
• Registered Behavioral Technician Certification strongly preferred.
• Must obtain and maintain DCF clearance.

Responsibilities

• Provide outreach, emotional support, and crisis counseling to individuals, families, and groups.
• Triage calls and provide community resource information and supportive counseling.
• Screenings and assessments with intervention services.
• Engage individuals in crisis planning using Motivational Interviewing and Mental Health First Aid.
• Coordinate psychiatric appointments within 48 hours and provide after-hours crisis services.
• Transport individuals to facilities when safe and appropriate.

POSITION SUMMARY:Person in this position is responsible for working with patients struggling with one or more multiple behavioral health problems and provide triage, crisis counseling, implement treatment plans, monitor their progress, and ensure that the care environment is safe and supportive. Behavioral Health Technician operates as a backup to the Licensed Mental Health Clinician that goes out to an in-person MRT crisis call. Job Functions include those listed below.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:Works with individuals, families, and groups to provide outreach, emotional support, individual and group crisis counseling.Provides warm hand off to community resources, services, and supports.Triages phone calls and provides community resource information as well as supportive counseling.Conducts screening and assessments and provides intervention services.Engages individuals and families in the crisis planning process using evidenced based practices including Motivational Interviewing and Mental Health First Aid.Develops safety or crisis care plan.Facilitates stabilization and are coordination services post-acute intervention.Coordinates psychiatric face-to-face or telehealth appointments with psychiatrist within 48 hours of intervention.Provides after hours crisis services on a rotation schedule. • Transports individuals to designated receiving facilities under a voluntary or involuntary status, if deemed safe to transport, if the individual does not have other transportation options available and agrees to be transported by the MRT.Interacts with management to gather and provide information.Completes all orientation and mandated training activities, including E-Learning Courses, within required timeframes, and in accordance with the criteria established for this position.Must Embrace and embody the mission, vision, guiding principles, clinical vision, and goals of WestCare Foundation; andPerform all other duties as assigned.ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the duties and responsibilities satisfactorily.
