Burrell Behavioral Health in Independence, MO seeks a Lead Behavioral Health Technician to guide a team in a fast-paced crisis center. You’ll supervise clients, model professional care, and provide real-time coaching to staff while ensuring safe, therapeutic environments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Psychiatric Nursing, or related field, or a high school diploma with two years of relevant employment.
  • Experience in human services or behavioral health preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license with clean record and active auto insurance.
  • Ability to obtain Level 1 Med Aid (LIMA) credential and insulin certification within 90 days for residential facilities.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills; multitask and supervise staff.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support Behavioral Health Technicians on shift with guidance and real-time coaching.
  • Supervise daily client activities, maintaining a safe, therapeutic community.
  • Model professional conduct, boundaries, and trauma-informed care.
  • De-escalate crises using approved techniques with leadership direction.
  • Facilitate education, skill-building, and recreational groups as scheduled.
  • Assist with training, onboarding, and supervision of staff.
  • Ensure timely, accurate documentation in EMR in compliance with state CARF standards.
  • Assist with staff scheduling, shift coverage, and staff meetings.
  • Complete performance reviews for direct reports within designated timeframes.
