Job summary

The Wood Group in Austin seeks a compassionate Behavioral Health Technician to support residents with behavioral health challenges, fostering stability and well-being through structured care.

You will work on a full-time daytime shift, provide safe supervision, assist with meals, medications, and daily documentation, and collaborate with community partners to help clients return to productive daily living.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; certification in behavioral health preferred.
• Experience in mental health or social services is advantageous.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to stay calm in high-pressure situations.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety and well-being of residents at all times.
• Prepare and serve meals according to the facility menu.
• Complete tasks on the facility Chore Sheet as directed by the administrator.
• Treat residents with dignity and respect.
• Supervise medication procedures and document narcotics counts.
• Maintain daily chart documentation.
• Follow The Wood Group policies and procedures.

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Behavioral Health Technician to join our mental health care team. In this vital role, you will support individuals experiencing behavioral health challenges, helping them achieve stability and improved well-being through compassionate care and structured support. Full-time shift available:

• Daytime t shift - 7am to 7pm (12hr rotating schedule)

Below are a few job duties to expect as a Behavioral Health Tech:

• Ensure the safety and well-being of all residents at all times.
• Cook and serve meals. Follow the facility menu as posted.
• Responsible for completing items listed on the facility Chore Sheet as directed by the administrator.
• Responsible for assuring all residents are treated with dignity and respect.
• Responsible for the supervision of all resident medication procedures. Ensure that all residents receive their proper medication at the proper time. All narcotics will be counted and documented on each shift.
• Daily chart documentation
• Be familiar with The Wood Group’s policy and procedures to include employee handbook.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in behavioral health or related field preferred
• Prior experience in mental health, behavioral health, or social services is advantageous
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to remain calm and composed in high-pressure situations
• Empathy, patience, and a genuine desire to help others
• Knowledge of behavioral health practices, safety protocols, and crisis intervention techniques
