Job summary

Avera Health in Bath, SD is seeking a Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) for the Acute Unit on a part-time basis. You will support nurses, counselors and patients, under RN supervision, in delivering compassionate behavioral care.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to communicate effectively with others and hear and distinguish speech.
• Visual acuity adequate to perform duties and use EMR; ability to perform essential job functions.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates effective communication to create a positive work environment.
• Participates in daily inter-disciplinary treatment team meetings as needed, providing input on patient behaviors and interactions.
• Implements suicide precautions as needed.
• Assesses changes in patient condition/behavior and notifies RN/Counselor.
• Assists with activities of daily living and basic nursing care tasks.
• Maintains accurate and concise patient records in the EMR.
• Assists with admissions, transfers, and discharges.
• Assists with medication monitoring and education.
• Ensures patient valuables and personal items are properly handled.
