Job summary

Havenwyck Hospital is seeking a Mental Health Technician for PT days (24 hours per week) from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM, with every other weekend. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, you will assist with admissions, discharges, transfers, and daily living activities, while monitoring for safety and de-escalation of potential aggression.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Prefer a minimum of two years of college in psychology, social work, mental health, or related fields.
• Experience with emotionally disturbed individuals preferred.

Responsibilities

• Follow nursing leadership instructions and as outlined in Hospital policies and procedures.
• Reports patient medical problems to the Registered Nurse.
• Reports alterations in sensory perceptual images, recognizing the differences between illusions, delusions and hallucinations. Monitors safety issues and takes action to prevent patient harm. Communicates issues to the Registered Nurse.
• Provides care to patients while considering safety, rights, comfort and a therapeutic environment.
• Assists with admissions, discharges, and transfers and completes the appropriate documentation.

Education

High School Diploma or GED

Two years of college in psychology, social work, mental health, or related fields

Experience with emotionally disturbed individuals
